Sure,
they have pizza and pasta and all the great stuff they’ve become duly famous
for, but wait… what’s this? Owner
Dennis Blume got a sudden yearning for prime rib and faster than you can say
“where should we go to eat”, his restaurant is serving the best premium prime
rib on the Central Coast. Using
recently patented cooking techniques and equipment, Mustache Pete’s serves a
plateful (and I mean a plate full) of prime rib that exceeds the
taste and texture of most ‘aged’ rib offered at far less reasonable prices
elsewhere. Oh, did I mention that
Dennis promises ‘the best Millennium Party anywhere’. He tells us that it’s pretty much sold out, but it’s worth a call
to make sure.

Food Spirits & Fun
We love these guys.
Owners Michael and Joani do one hell heck of a job when it
comes to providing Food Spirits and Fun. Look up ‘relax’ or ‘good bar
food’ in the dictionary and you’ll see their picture.
I ate my first ‘West Zen Dog’ a couple of years ago, and it went
immediately on my ‘if-forced-to-eat-until-I-burst’ list. This is where the locals go to watch
locals. Hell, this is where the locals
go to become locals.
Owners Michael Stoddard and Joanie Kemp tell us they are offering an
Affordably-Priced New Year’s Eve Menu; Choose From: Steak; Steak & Scampi;
Grilled Salmon; Linguini & Scampi and best of all there is No Cover Charge!

If
it’s half as fun as most other nights are at the West End, you’ll
still be talking about it in 2025.
Tip:
talk to Joanie while your there – she has a really cool voice.

Fine Dining
‘New
Years Eve 1999 at Bistro Sole’ promises to be a culinary fete that could have
been a century in the making. The menu,
which touts a ‘six course meal paired with wines, your choice of nine entrees
and Bistro Sole’s excellent service’, features an assemblage of gastronomical
delights that will not soon be forgotten by those fortunate enough to secure a
reservation. The entire menu, far too
lengthy to print here, includes lobster medallions with lemon beurre blanc,
essence of duck with chanterelle mushrooms, and roasted pheasant au champagne…
you get the idea. (Guys: take her here for New Years, and I promise you’ll get
more than just a kiss at midnight.) Seating begins at 5. Musical
accompaniment.
