Open Letter to Mel - Things to Do on the Central Coast

Hey Mel, Get acquainted with some of these hot spots!

Los Osos (The Bear) is a sweet community just south of Morro Bay and not
touristy. Check out Montana De Oro State Park. On the drive into the park
you'll see a bunch of cars on the right side of the road in the eucalyptus
forest. That's HAZARDS, a surf spot...a fun hike down to the beach. In the
park; Montana De Oro, follow the road to end and then hike along the bluffs
above the ocean, beautiful and scenic...there's also hiking at the end of
the campgrounds, but watch out for poison oak! You can end by hanging at the
beach with the big rock near shore, as you enter the park.

Also in Los Osos ask some locals about the sand dunes that you enter through
a neighborhood....bring your cardboard!

The Elfin Forest~ in Los Osos there's a boardwalk walk/hike amongst the Oak
Trees, go off the boardwalk into the trees and explore under the oak
canopies. A real elf/fairy adventure!

Morro Bay~ Morro Bay State Park, pass the golf course take a right onto a
road that skirts the water...at the end is a cozy restaurant and Kayak
rentals. The rentals are a blast to explore the estuary, sand spit, and the
harbor! A fun afternoon kayak, but watch the tides.

Cayucos~ Beach town North of Morro Bay 10 mins. "Good Clean Fun" on the Main
Street is the surf shop where you can rent wet suits and boogie boards,
Flash just told me they are not there anymore...however he said there is
some other shop...explore! Cayucos has the best beach to boogie board by the
pier.

This will get you going... Hey!In SLO****check out Madonna Mountain  on
Madonna Road off Higuera.

Another adventure is my FAVORITE BEACH "The COVE", just north of Cambria
about 50 mins. from SLO... Off HWY 1, north of Cambria and San Simeon take
the road to William Randolph's Hearst State Beach, you can take the first
left to the entrance,there's a kiosk or continue down the road and park with
all the other cars, and enter through the fence...no charge. The beach is
always sunny, even if there's fog on the coast. At the end of the beach you
might see some nudies, also at the end of the beach are the caves! A must to
venture and discover sea stars and the likes!

As you walk along the beach you will notice a path above the beach along the
bluffs 50 ft or so...it's a great hike along the coast, It goes above the
beach, thru a grove of cypress and then comes out along the bluffs above the
ocean and ends at our windsurfing beach Arroyo Laguna..about 2 miles..

Google some of these spots to get a feel of where they are. Have fun Mel!You

Pewter Plough to Present "The Belle of Amherst"

Seems Like A Belle To Remember ::

The Pewter Plough Playhouse will present "The Belle of Amherst" by William Luce, weekends during the month of July. The production stars Cambrian Emma Duncan in a one-woman show telling of the life and work of Emily Dickinson. Cambria's remarkable young actress will make her Playhouse debut in this special production, directed by Nehemiah Persoff. This famous and popular play is based on the life of the great American poet, Emily Dickinson, and was originally written for the famous actress, Julie Harris, who won a Tony award for her performance in the play. The show will open Saturday night, July 5, with our traditional champagne gala. There will be a preview on Thursday, July 3. (There will be no show on Friday, July 4.) It will run weekends through July 27. All Friday and Saturday shows will begin at 7:30 PM. Sunday matinees every weekend will begin at 3 PM. Tickets for this show will be $13.00 for the preview, $25.00 for the champagne opening, $19 regular/$16 seniors, with special reduced prices of $14.00 for Friday evening shows and $12.00 for students at all shows. "Emma Duncan is definitely on her way to Broadway", says Persoff, Cambria's own stage and screen star. "She has the most wonderful, magical, mesmerizing quality on stage I've seen in a youngster, since my days at the Actors Studio, where I was captivated by the great talents and charm of Julie Harris (herself a neophyte then), Maureen Stapleton, Kim Stanley, Cloris Leachman and Kim Hunter.According to Jim Buckley, Artistic Director of the PPP, the play was chosen not only to celebrate the extraordinary artistry of Emma Duncan, but to experience the reassurance of a beautiful play, full of passion and poetry and heart.

Tennesee Williams Play

The Pewter Plough Playhouse will present a reading of Tennessee Williams' play " Lovely Sunday For Creve Coeur" over Memorial Day Weekend. There will be three performances: Friday, May 23 at 7:30, Saturday, May 24 at 7:30, and Sunday, May 25 at 3:00. The cast will include Nancy Coon, Viv Goff and Pat VanRhyn.

"Creve Coeur" tells the story of several women each looking for romance and elegance in their lives. It is a lovely Sunday for a park at Creve Coeur Lake, but each woman is waiting for something more exciting to happen. They play explores the need for human connection and the compromises made in order to make it through the "long run of life".
