DOG MAN: TWENTY THOUSAND FLEAS UNDER THE SEA by global bestselling author and illustrator Dav Pilkey will be published by Scholastic worldwide on March 28, 2023.

Scholastic, the world’s largest publisher and distributor of children’s books, today announced that 2023 will be an important and exciting year for children and families everywhere with the release of a new graphic novel Dog Man. DOG MAN: TWENTY THOUSAND CHIPS UNDER THE SEA, the latest book in the critically acclaimed, global #1 selling series, will be released on March 28, 2023, simultaneously in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand and throughout Asia . This eleventh installment in the series follows Dog Man: Mothering Heights which topped bestseller lists for children and adults, and was the world’s best-selling book of 2021, selling over 2 million copies to date in the United States alone. In just over five years since Dog Man launched to star-studded reviews, there are over 50 million copies of Dog Man books in print with translations into 42 languages. The phenomenal success of Dog Man has also helped propel the comics industry, and Dav Pilkey’s global dominance continues on November 29, 2022 with the release of Cat Kid Comic Club: Collaborations, the latest book in his best-selling Cat Kid Comic Club graphic novel series, a spinoff of Dog Man. With over 90 million copies in print to date, the Captain Underpants series will soon celebrate its 25th anniversary. About David Pilkey

The publication of Dog Man: Twenty Thousand Fleas Under the Sea marks 35 years of writing and illustrating award-winning and best-selling children’s books by Dav Pilkey. Her very first graphic novel, The Adventures of Super Diaper Baby, was published in 2002, fourteen years before the release of the first Dog Man book. When Dav Pilkey was a child, he was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia. Dav was so disruptive in class that his teachers made him sit in the hallway every day. He spent his time in the hallway creating his own original comics – the very first adventures of Dog Man and Captain Underpants. In college, Dav met a teacher who encouraged him to write and illustrate for children. He took her advice and created his first book, world war wonwhich won a national competition in 1986. Dav wrote many other books before receiving the California Young Reader Medal for dog’s breath (1994) and the Caldecott Honor for The Newspaper deliverer (1996). Dav’s stories are semi-autobiographical and explore universal themes that celebrate friendship, empathy and the triumph of the good heart.
