Ladysmith Maritime Society Hosts Celebration of Marine Life

Ladysmith’s marine life is worth celebrating.

Hundreds of people flocked to Ladysmith Community Marina last weekend for the Sea Life Celebration event hosted by the Ladysmith Maritime Society.

“[It] was indeed a celebration, ”noted a press release from the event. “The weather was perfect for a walk on the pier and participating in the many educational activities.”

Families had the chance to learn about the marine life while participating in arts and crafts and other activities.

Young Salish Wolves opened the celebrations by dancing and invited other festival attendees to join in. World Fishing Trust has brought its educational mobile Seaquarium “for a close and personal encounter with sea creatures,” the statement noted.

A diver, an underwater camera and harbor tours on the Maritimer were other activities. The shipping company thanked all the participants and the 40 volunteers who made the celebrations possible.
