STB promotes sea travel with specially created #TravelThrowback IG effect


The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) unveiled #TravelThrowback, a community effort to unite avid travelers to promote the beauty of SEA. The initiative invites Instagram travelers across the sea to share their favorite travel memories from their photo library using the specially created “TravelThrowback” Instagram effect available on STB’s official Instagram page.

Aiming to generate interest in SEA and encourage travelers to prioritize Southeast Asia as a region to explore once international travel fully resumes, this Instagram effect allows users to share their experiences. memories across destinations in Southeast Asia and tag their friends and family to challenge them to do the same.

The 10 Southeast Asian destinations included in #TravelThrowback Instagram Effects are Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

In addition, according to the STB press release, the tourism board will work with various local partners in each SEA country to welcome other national tourism organizations, tourism service providers and travel stakeholders to be part of it. of this effort to inspire the desire to travel to Southeast Asia.

John Conceicao, executive director of SEA, Singapore Tourism Board, said the tourism sector has been hit the hardest in SEA and travelers are more likely to take short-haul trips in SEA rather than planning a long haul vacation. He further added that the #TravelThrowback initiative could showcase the beauty of the region and inspire travelers to explore the hidden places of Southeast Asia.

“We know that social media can have a big influence on travel decisions, especially at the start of a career. Among millennial travelers, Instagram can greatly influence the travel destination. Through #TravelThrowback, we want to rally travelers and brands passionate about SEA’s rich culture and heritage to share their best memories, stories and experiences, as a visual feast of what SEA has to offer. “

In addition, STB has actively promoted tourist destinations with SEA, as well as activities in which to participate around the world. In June, she launched a remake of the song Singapore Town, performed by local singer-songwriter Charlie Lim, accompanied by a lightweight music video. The video was seen featuring around 60 Singaporeans from all walks of life, including local artists and personalities such as cook, TV host and food writer Sarah Huang Benjamin; sneaker designer Mark Ong; and opera artist Teochew Tan Wei Tian.
